 "a little piece of heaven away from home . . ." a guest from Lansing, Michigan Surrounded by lawns and hedges of wild roses, Bass Harbor Gables, is 250 feet from shore. Built in the late 1880's and renovated in 1985, it is designed for privacy, views, and comfort. The main house is divided into two completely separate parts, described below. North (on the left) has a front deck, fully equipped kitchen,
living room with sofa bed and a half bath downstairs.Two bedrooms, one with queen-size bed and the other with twin beds, and a full bath are upstairs. Water and mountain views can be seen from the front and side windows. Grand Gables (on the right) has spacious accommodations in the main house providing a relaxing atmosphere for 4-6 guests. As you come in the front door from the sunny deck the dining area and kitchen will be on your right and a comfortable living room, with cable TV, are on the left. The adjoining study opens onto a private brick patio which overlooks the herb and cutting gardens. Wooden spiral stairs lead to the master bedroom which has a cathedral ceiling and a lovely view of the harbor. The second front bedroom sleeps two on a double futon and the cozy back bedroom can accommodate two. There is a full bathroom upstairs and a half bath downstairs. All rooms are bright and sun-filled and have views of the harbor or the gardens. Not recommended for toddlers. |
The COTTAGE . . . . . . . .
is across the lawn, surrounded by rose hedges, with a view of the
water from both the private back deck and the front entrance deck.
The sliding glass door and picture window open to the harbor and mountain
views while the cathedral ceiling and fireplace add charm to the living
room. A full kitchen makes it easy to prepare simple breakfasts or lobster dinners.The bedroom has a queen size bed and the living room sofa opens to a double bed. Full bath with tub. Sorry, no telephone connection.
